House System

House System

Knowing the individual is a key priority at Warwick Junior School.

Our house system

Boys learn best when they know they are valued, their interests are recognised and their efforts are encouraged. The house system helps to foster a true sense of belonging.

When boys join Warwick Junior School, they will become part of one of our four Houses. They will be part of their given House for the duration of their time at the school. Our four houses are Aqua, Ignis, Terra and Ventis.

Each house has its own designated colour. The boys’ ties, will have stripes in the colour of their house, and their white sports t-shirt, which is also emblazoned with their house colours.

The colours of our houses are:
Aqua – Blue
Ignis – Red
Terra – Green
Ventis – Yellow

WORKING TOGETHER

The Houses provide the opportunity for boys across all year groups to work together, whether that’s during a House Charity Day or in an inter-house competition.

Each week, boys work hard to earn House Points, which they add to the House ‘Treasure Chests’ ready to be counted on Fridays by the House Captains. The awarding of the weekly House Cup in assembly is always preceded by a room full of boys with their fingers crossed, hoping this week their House will be successful.

Throughout the year, year group competitions such as House rugby, football, cricket and swimming, alongside whole school competitions such as the annual Aquathlon, Sports Days, House Music Competition and the Christmas House General Knowledge Quiz, all provide opportunities for Houses to win trophies and add them to their ‘House Shelf’.

One of the most important things each House does every year is to choose a charity to support and raise money for. Each year, the boys within each House get the opportunity to put forward a charity that they would like to support. The House listens to the presentations and then makes the difficult decision to vote for their chosen charity. Led by the boys in the House from Year 6, over the course of the year, each House will design, publicise and run a charity event, raising hundreds of pounds for their chosen worthy cause.
