Year 4 Ancient Greek Day

Year 4 Ancient Greek Day

On Monday the 28 September, Year 4 had an amazing Ancient Greek Day. It was incredibly great fun!

First, we had an assembly to tell us more about what it was like to live in Ancient Greece. One thing we learnt was about who could vote. Children could not vote because you had to be over 15. After our assembly we split into 3 groups to complete different activities.

Our first activity was Greek games. Our favourite was the board game, Five Lines. It was a luck-based game where you rolled a die. Next, we wrote with bamboo reed pens and ink on papyrus paper. We wrote, “Hello my name is… and I am leaning how to be a scribe” in Ancient Greek.

After that, we played a voting game about making important war decisions for the Athenians. We made sure we had good, but balanced, happiness, economy, security and health.

Back in the hall, we were given spears and shields and learnt how to fight in battle formation! The best part was doing our loud and fierce battle cry.

We completed the day with an amazing story about Persius and Medusa.

What a wonderful day we had! Thank you to PAWS!
