Welcome back to a new academic year at Warwick Junior School. It has been a genuine pleasure to see the school filled once again with energy, enthusiasm and conversation after the summer break. The boys have returned with positivity and purpose, and I have been particularly impressed by how quickly they have settled back into school routines, reconnected with friends and embraced the opportunities of a new year.

A special welcome must go to our new Year 3 boys, who have made an excellent start to life in the Junior School. Joining a new school is both exciting and daunting in equal measure, and they have approached their first few days with confidence, curiosity and a great sense of adventure. We are also delighted to welcome those pupils who have joined us in Years 4, 5 and 6. They have already become valued members of our community, and we look forward to seeing them flourish in the months ahead.

In Monday’s assembly, we reflected on the wide range of emotions that can accompany the start of a new school year. Using clips from Finding Nemo and Sesame Street, we explored the idea that it is perfectly normal to feel excited, hopeful and eager, but also nervous, uncertain or even a little scared. New beginnings often bring all of these feelings together. We linked this discussion to our school motto, Altiora Peto – I seek higher things – and considered how each of us can aim higher this year by developing those areas outlined in our Junior School Learning Strengths, by supporting one another and approaching challenges with courage and determination.

It was wonderful to welcome so many parents at our Meet the Teacher Evening on Tuesday. These events are an important opportunity to strengthen the partnership between home and school, and we are grateful for the support, encouragement and trust that parents provide throughout the year. Working together gives our boys the very best opportunity to thrive. If you were not able to attend, you will find the information from the evening on the school portal.

This evening, we look forward to the Year 3 BBQ, which is always a highlight of the start of term. It promises to be a wonderful opportunity for boys and parents to build friendships, strengthen connections, and enjoy being part of the Warwick Junior School community.

Finally, this is the first edition of The Bear for the academic year. As always, it contains important information, celebrations of success and updates from across the school and wider Foundation. I encourage all families to take the time to read it carefully each week as we share the many opportunities, achievements and experiences that make life at Warwick Junior School so rich and rewarding.

I wish all our families a happy and successful start to the term ahead.

Have a wonderful weekend.
