Providing equal opportunities is core at Warwick Junior School. In a nurturing environment where every child feels understood and supported, it’s important they thrive both academically and personally.
Learning support
Pupils joining the school with an identified special educational need or a disability, are entitled to access the full school curriculum and are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the school to achieve their full potential in all areas of school life.
We are committed to providing the appropriate support, as best as it can be accommodated, so that boys can become independent learners and fulfil their potential through high attainment and achievement.
Our inclusive approach supports both those whose learning needs have been formally identified and those who would benefit from a little extra help — whether that is with literacy, numeracy or social and emotional wellbeing, to help fulfil their learning potential.
SEND
Our learning support team is led by a qualified and experienced SEND specialist, who liaises closely with parents and work with form tutors and subject teachers to create the appropriate, tailored support.
Pupils with identified needs have Individual Support Plans that are designed to address their specific strengths and challenges. Focused support is provided within the classroom, as well as through some individual or small group teaching. The provision is reviewed on a regular basis with many pupils only requiring a short period of intervention.
EAL
For pupils who have English as an additional language, immersion in school life usually enables individuals to make rapid progress in their spoken and written English with support provided in lessons by our teachers who have all had specialist EAL training. Where needed, the EAL department at Warwick Senior School can provide additional support to ensure that language is not a barrier to learning progress.
